Placement Interview

Samana Butool (Final B.Tech. EE)

Question-Answers :

Q1) Ma'am what company did you get placed in?

-> I got placed in Optum which is an IT firm as a Software Engineer (Full-Stack Developer).

Q2)  Ma'am from where did you start your preparation?

-> I started my preparation from 1st year itself .

Used YouTube, Geeks for Geeks, books and other stuff.

Q3) Ma'am in which programs did you participate in your 1st year?

-> I joined a Google Cloud program in first year which basically included a Machine learning and a cloud engineering course.

I had also joined a course on Udemy including web development in HTML, Javascript and CSS in which we had to complete some small projects.

After that I joined a course on React and did some basic operations in Backend.

Q4) Ma'am how did you continue your preparation from 3rd year onwards ?

-> I used to solve questions on Leetcode and Codechef majorly with consistency. I had also studied OOPs ( Object Oriented Programming) in JAVA from KUNAL KUSHWAHA's YouTube playlist. Object Oriented Programming is also very important from an interview point of view.

Q5) Ma'am have you done any internships?

-> I have done a virtual internship which is 'Future Ready Talent' from Microsoft.
It was basically divided into 2 parts- in the first part I had to complete a course on Microsoft Azure and in the second part I had to make a nominal project.

Q6) Ma'am what were your resources in finding the internship? Please mention some

-> I found it on LinkedIn and for instance there is a channel on TELEGRAM named as ARSH GOYAL.

Q7) Ma'am what was the level of questions which were asked from you at the time of the interview?

-> The interviewer asked questions which couldn't be searched on Google. So, the only key to crack that interview was presence of mind. They weren't even THAT difficult but required at least some knowledge to answer.

Q8) Ma'am what type of questions were asked in the written test and how was the interview?

-> There was only one coding question and 4-5 multiple choice questions.
I had to crack two interview rounds. In the first round, I was asked to solve two coding questions and they asked me about OOPs. I was asked about my project(s) too. The duration was around an hour or so.
In the second round, I was given one coding question to solve and questions from OOPs were asked, mainly. The level of questions was pretty good. The main objective of asking the question was to see how the candidate is getting to the right answers and simultaneously succeeding in convincing the interviewer of the same.

Q9) Ma'am what things should a candidate keep in mind if he/she wants to try for off campus placements?

-> Grabbing an off campus placement is comparatively tougher than an on campus placement. CP ( Competitive Programming) is not mandatory but DSA and OOPs are.

Q10) Ma'am what should be the minimum CGPA for being on the safer side?

-> CGPA above 7 is good.

Q11) Ma'am what were the essential points you highlighted in your CV?

-> I mentioned all the internships I had done and the activities which I had taken part in, while in college.

Q12) Ma'am how did college clubs, sub-councils etc. help you in your journey?

-> Mainly, PSMSC helped me. There, I received guidance from seniors and incorporating the experience of my involvement in college clubs and societies left an overall positive impact on the interviewer.
