Placement Interview
Ishika Tripathi (Final B.Tech. OT)
Question-Answers :
Q1) Ma'am in which company have you been placed recently?
->I
have been placed in an Oil based MNC called Archer Daniels Midland (ADM).
Q2) Ma'am what are the various opportunities available in Oil companies?
->There
are many sections in oil companies like refinery, production line, HR, research
department, health unit etc. Although, many firms prefer male candidates in
refinery units but, some MNCs give equal opportunities to both male and female
oil technologists to maintain gender ratio in their industrial plants like
Bunge Oil, ADM etc.
Q3) Ma'am what was the selection procedure in Bunge Oil during the placement drive?
->Bunge
was mainly hiring for Production line. It consisted of 4 stages such as:
● Aptitude Round
I was asked some general questions related to physics and
other basics.
● Group Discussion (GD)
It was included to test the applicants’ communication skills
and coordination in a team.
● Interview Round
It went for about 40-45 minutes. Mainly consisted of
technical questions which were based on the applicant's internship like the
numerical calculations consisting of desired output of product, observations
did in oil refinery etc. There was thorough questioning about the CV.
● HR Round
The final round went for around 40-45 minutes. Queries aimed
at testing the personality of the candidate. They did this by asking questions
regarding hobbies, family background, motive of joining core engineering etc.
Q4) Ma'am how was your interview experience in Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) ?
->
It was a great exposure to sit for ADM. Initially, there was a Pre-Interview
Talk which involved questions regarding the motive to join that MNC. Will you
be comfortable in working in various shifts? Can you manage to work in remote
areas like Latur etc.?
The
second round consisted of Group discussion (GD) which expected the candidates
to abide by the given topic and speak on rational points by giving examples.
You can politely disagree with the other members viewpoint but, it should NOT
create a debatable environment.
Q5) Ma'am how was your interview experience in Adani Wilmar?
->It
was pleasing to get interviewed by recruiters of Adani Wilmar. Since I had
already interned at their Mundra Plant. They asked questions related to my
family background, space for some exposure and curiosity in knowing about
various units in the industrial plant, the motive of pursuing a career in Oil
Technology branch etc.
Q6) Ma'am how do you see your branch: boon or bane?
->
Initially, my outlook was quite negative. Reason being- I had paid heed to
gossips and rumours about the low placements, inequality in job offerings to
girls in industries etc. but fortunately, they were all myths! They were hardly
supported by the facts and figures which claimed of a better scenario. I
believe that knowledge and hard work never goes in vain. Add to that, I can
also analyze various market products like cosmetics, medicine, soaps etc. just
by seeing their basic composition! So that's definitely a plus point.
Q7) Ma'am do Lab Experiments play a vital role in placements?
->No,
not necessarily. But they are still essential for the industrial phase of your
career. Many a times, while in college, we feel that they are not of much use.
But later on, they proves to be of higher utility in industries.
Q8) Ma'am what are the important takeaways for cracking Interview Round?
->
Prepare well from internship experiences, CV and basic concepts. Also try to
speak fluently and don't beat around the bush. If you don't know the answer of
a question, calmly reply, “Very sorry but I'm unable to recall at the moment.”
and move ahead. They seek individuals with conviction and confidence, so be
calm and firm.
Q9)Ma'am what is the role of faculties in placement drives?
->Faculties
are mainly responsible for inviting the companies for the placement season.
Regardless, the selection of the student depends solely upon the individual's
preparation.
Q10) Ma'am do academics and CGPA matter?
-> Academics and
CGPA is the only criteria for getting shortlisted to sit for placements. More
precisely, you should focus on atleast maintaining a CGPA≥7.5. It is the
minimum criteria for deeming you eligible to enroll in company interviews.
