Anushree Trivedi(CHE) - Hero MotoCorp

PLACEMENT INTERVIEW

ANUSHREE TRIVEDI (CHE)

Q1) Ma’am please introduce yourself and in which company you’re placed in?

Ans=> I am Anushree Trivedi. I am final year Chemical Engineering Undergraduate and in placement season I received two offers one from Hero MotoCorp and other from Asian Paints PPG.

Q2) Ma’am when did you start your placement preparations? How long did it take and what resources did you use?

Ans=> So, first of all indirectly placement starts from third year itself. First you have to back the internship, so I initially got my intern at Suez water technologies and solutions. First we prepare for internship so in that span you get a lot of ideas about your placement also, because more or less CV remains almost same rather CG differs a bit, so you prepare for the internship, at that time only half of the placement preparation happens apart from that for the placement, specifically Hero MotoCorp was a plastic based company and I am from chemical engineering so I chose the open elective syllabus of polymer that gave me the information about how things work in polymer-based techniques. I used the resources of polymer students to prepare for the same.

In case of Asian Paints PPG, it was a paint based company but they came for the chemical profile also so I studied my basic subject like heat transfer, mass transfer, mechanical operations, fluid mechanics and apart from that I prepared the basics of paint technology for which also I referred the resource from the paint technology students to study about that.

Q3) Ma’am please tell us about any specific site or portfolio you have prepared?

Ans=> The site that I used was IndiaBix.com for the preparation of aptitude since aptitude test is the very first round of most of the companies, it was there in Hero MotoCorp as well, the process was completely online and it went like first round aptitude test, then GD and then PI unlike in Asian Paints PPG where the whole process was offline and the company visited the campus, they didn’t take any written tests but GD and PI rounds were at hand, so the company short listed us. So that is how I prepared and in terms of CV I didn’t do anything specific about it, it was just that from the very first year I was involved in multiple clubs like ASCPC and E-CELL. I was the associate head in ASCPC I was the content head and I was pretty active, when it came to fest I was the PR head in ADHYAAY and I have managed other college fests too. These thing lead me to a good content for my CV and for position of responsibility, so I used that apart from that I had done the internship so I described that too.

I have my hobbies like classical dance and I have been pursuing it for 14 years. So that was something that really impressed the interview panel of Asian Paints PPG that you are doing something for such a prolonged span and apart from that, all you need to do is be confident in your interview and that is how you can ace it.

Q4) Ma’am can you please elaborate about the rounds in the placement process?

Ans=> I was placed earlier in Hero MotoCorp, in October 2022. They took an online basic aptitude test that was to be qualified first then the GD was also online and my topic for it was “Shared Mobility” that meant should you use public transports or should you have your personal vehicles? Since it is a vehicle based company, so they gave us 30 seconds to think and then our GD started that lasted for 10 minutes and approximately 10 individuals were there in our GD group, after that they shortlisted us on the basis of the result of GD. The interview started after an hour and two panelist were there that were basically from core, so they asked a lot of questions about my research projects and my internships and why am I interested in polymer domains even after being a chemical engineer.

So I have worked on some polymer projects as well, so I defended that way .

The interview was a lot technical based that lasted for almost 40 minutes in which in the initial 30 minutes they asked me in depth about the technical stuff in polymer basically and here and there a bit about chemical engineering and the last 10 minutes was my HR.

When Asian Paints came to the college they first took the GD round (offline), venue was the guest house and then they shortlisted around 50% of the people appeared for GD. Our interviews were scheduled after that. Asian Paints PPG consisted of two rounds R&D and SALES & HR. So first you have to qualify that and there were four people, the first two people were supposed to take your sales and HR interview and if they felt like you are a good candidate then they will send you for R&D. My first interview was of sales and HR that lasted about 20 minutes, they asked me about sales, am I free to travel, why am I looking for this company and some basic things about my CV, my objective in life, my personal goals and what I am looking forward in this company, all the basic HR questions. They talked a bit more about sales that as a girl can you take up a sales role because you have to travel a lot and are you fine with that. Once that was over I was asked to move for the other round which was not a compulsory round, I was sent to the R&D round and lot of technical questions were there from the paint segment, they wanted to know my interest in the company. My first question was which company are you sitting for? So most of the students said Asian Paints, but the company is Asian Paints PPG that's a PPG segment of Asian Paints America and Indian Division lateral combination.

So they wanted to know how much are you interested in the company. So the starting was very normal. Then they asked me about what are my subjects of interest, then how can I contribute to the paint industry? And then they asked me a lot about resins, polymers and paints that are there, adhesives, what are the binders, how many types of binders are there? And all of those basic paint detail questions that I've studied.  They asked me a little bit about mechanical operations because mechanical operations is a subject and they asked me how can you relate your domain to paint industry? So basically the physical operations in that are also present in chemical industries, so that’s how I defended that I have studied it in detail and can contribute in this R&D sector. The interview lasted about 30 minutes and in the last 5 minutes they asked me a general judgment things about are you going to sustain in this company for long? Are you interested in going for Masters? And all of those questions and then that is how it ended.

Q5) Ma’am how did you tackle the sustainability question which was asked from you?

Ans=> Yes, I'll be loyal. So basically it was like I had a good CG. So they asked why you're not going for Masters? You'll have good opportunities. Also you have had a good educational background, so why not? So I defended by saying that I've studied for like 18 years, constantly since my KG standard and now I want to take a break. I want to have an industry exposure. So I'll get an idea about how it is actually in practical life because all that we study in books is not what we see in the labs. It's very, very different. You can't just go through a journal and do an experiment. I wanted to experiment because at the age of 21, 22 you want to try hands on a lot of things. So therefore I'm looking forward to a company with good working environment and since some of our seniors are placed there so I've had a word with them and they gave some very good response about the company's culture and growth that it provides. So that is why I'm looking forward to the company. So that was my answer.

THANK YOU!
